Door/window sensors
« on: September 11, 2005, 03:32:12 PM »

How do I install the sensors on doors where
the door casing causes one magnet to be
recessed from the other magnet.

Danny...you need to use spacers on the low
half of the magnetic contacts to bring them
flush.  Spacers can be made of any plastic
material like plexigas, etc.  I use double-
sided self sticking foam weatherstripping
(Frost King-white-3/8" wide 3/16" or 5/16"
thick.  My favorite, although black, is a
dense foam product called Grippers by
SoftTouch (found at Lowes).  It is single-
sided sticking, 1/4" thick and I cut with a
razor knife to the width of the magnetic
contacts.  You chose but level up those
contacts!
