New Software upgrade(1.42 ) not controling RR501's
« on: November 14, 2005, 07:23:47 PM »

Hello,

I have had my entire x10 system working
with the old Active Home software (running
Win 98) and everything worked fine.
Recently I bought a new computer with
windows XP, so I had to update the Active
Home software to version  1.42, but once I
set everything  up the new software will
not control my 2 sender/receiver modules
(RR501; 1 is set the A1 and the other A9).
My IR remotes still provides control of all
the modules but I can’t control RR501
modules with the new software.  Has anyone
else ran into this problem?

Thanks

Yo can Try to change the properties of the
program to run in win98 compatible mode.
you can do this by right clicking on the
Icon and check on the advanced properties

As mentioned try the Win98/ME compatibility
mode. Also turn off visual effects and Turn
off advanced text services in the same
compatibility area. Also some have reported
that setting the comm port to 2400 sometimes
helps.

Oh one more point. In XP I never heard the
sound effects that play when things happen
under 98.
