BoosterLinc
« on: February 14, 2006, 10:19:49 AM »

Hi there, I am fairly new to X-10 Automation.
I am having problems sometimes with certain
modules responding to my commands.  I do not
think that it is a phase problem, because
turning them on or off from my CM15A, they
seem to respond just fine.

So, I have been looking at the BoosterLinc
from smarthome and was wondering if it is as
good as they say it is.  Does anyone have any
experience with this piece of equipment?  Are
there different versions of this piece?  In
other words, is there somthing I need to
watch for, if I purchase it at ebay?

Thanks for all your replies.

Thomas,

The BoosterLinc amplifies only one phase of
the incoming line. Usually a signal bridge
is still needed to couple the signal to the
other phase. You might consider an amplifing
SignalLinc which amplifies and couples to
both phases. It is about same price as
BoosterLinc. FWIW

Dave,

Thanks for the prompt reply.  It looks,
though that I have to be careful not to get
the 4816, but the 4826, instead, correct?

Anyway, again thanks for your prompt reply.

I got a 4826b and it works great. Solved
all of my intermittent turn ON/OFF
problems. A little pricey, but a good
product. I also got the Smart Repeater,
HomeAutomation has a good price on it. It
made a big difference with Motion sensors
and wireless controllers. These 2 products
are worth investing in if you are into X10

John, thank you too for your reply.  That
sounds very encouraging.  I will really have
to start looking into that now.
