Capturing X10 Commands
« on: February 14, 2006, 03:10:35 PM »

Looking at the C++ examples for receiving
X10 commands, it seems you have to use
MFC... and it takes a bunch of nasty looking
code to do this (the ahcview source if I
remember right). Is there another way to
capture X10 commands using C++ (ie... I send
A4 OFF with my remote, and my program is
notified), or maybe a way to do this without
MFC? If it comes down to it... Ill just
modify the ahcview program to send messages
to my program when it receives an event...
but I would much rather have the
functionality integrated into my own
application.

Thanks,
Brandon

As an update (if anybody is watching) ... I
seem to have everything working. I've made
a event sink class, however, whenever i try
to advise the connection point to the
_IActiveHomeEvents, it fails

Any ideas... anybody?

Sorry to tripple post... but I got it
working. If anybody is trying to do
anything similar, let me know. I know have
a fully functioning C++ app that can send
and recv X10 commands.

I'm interested. Can you post the code somewhere in a zip file?

sorry to bump this (VERY) old post but this is the first time for me to login in a while, I've been really busy with school.

Since my last update I've made a little progress on some of the code, and I hope this summer when I have time to finalize it. It's written 100% in C++ and is VERY clean, fast, and does not crash.

Currently, it runs a small HTTP server that shows the status of my modules and allows me to run macros, set timers, and turn on/off my modules. The macro system I wrote in my program is similiar to the one in the ActiveHome software... for example you can set triggers... so when my program recvs the C1 ON command, it starts playing music in winamp and turns on the lights... very cool stuff.

I don't have time really right now to work on it and make a better version, but maybe in a month or so somebody with good solid NATIVE win32 C++ experience might want to help out and make a very nice, flexible, user-friendly app.

Brandon:

I just started to try to develop a C++ .NET app to drive the CM15 when I saw your posts.  Could you, please, send a copy of your source my way?  By the way, did you ever find any documentation on ActiveHomeScriptLib?  All what I have now is what Inteliisense gives me, which isn't much.

Thanks!

I would like to see a working example of C++ code that receives X10 events.  Thanks in advance,
