VA11A not recognized
« on: March 29, 2006, 10:56:20 AM »

I had AHP, with the VA11A working just fine, then I had to move my computer so I disconnected everything, when I connected again, it says that no input device is conected, could it be because I connect the VA11A to a different USB port?, it is recognized by windows but AHP doesn't recognize it, should I try all USB ports?

I ask this first cause the access to the ports where I put the computer is hard to reach. Or should I reinstall AHP, what are your sugestions?

If you look in Device Manager, what is listed under "Imaging Devices"? If it's not "X10 VA11A Video Capture" and instead is "Intel PC Camera Pro" you'll need to update the Intel listing with the VA11A drivers. That should get it working. See here:

So, when you start ActiveHome Pro you get the message that ActiveHome Pro is unable to connect to the VA11A? Have you tried exiting AHP, unplugging the VA11A, plugging it back in, then starting AHP again?

X10 Pro -
From the way I understand it, the VA11A has been around for several years now. Any chance that you guys can get the driver signed and approved by Microsoft, so we don't have to go through this process all the time?

Microsoft recently changed some things that will allow us to sign a driver for the VA11A. We have to write an all new driver, which takes a bit more time. Unforunately, we'll continue to have the conflict with the Intel PC Camera Pro, since the source of the problem doesn't change by writing and signing a new driver.

The main source of the problem is that the VA11A has a USB-ID of 0733/0430.
This USB ID# is for the "ViewQuest Technologies, Inc., Intel Pro Share WebCam".
So Windows defaults to loading the Intel Pro drivers. Since the USB ID is coded into the
VA11A when manufactured a new software driver would not work.

0733  ViewQuest Technologies, Inc.
   0110  VQ110
   1311  Digital Dream Epsilon 1.3
   2211  Jenoptik
   0401  CS330 WebCam
   0402  M-318B WebCam
   0430  Intel Pro Share WebCam
