Apparently a screwup on the part of the Midnight Bandit's henchmen who misunderstood the deal when composing the email alert.

I received another email the following day on 6/22 again announcing the same seven switches for $19.99 deal, but decided it wasn't worth again waiting up until midnight PST (4:00 AM EDT) to find out if it was really true this time.   (Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me.)

Apparently a screwup on the part of the Midnight Bandit's henchmen who misunderstood the deal when composing the email alert.
So, exactly what's the point of:
    .
  • Advertising a DEAL via E-Mail
    .
  • *NOT* following through with the DEAL
    .
  • Creating a NEW FORUM where CUSTOMERS can voice their concerns / complaints
    .
  • *NOT* responding to those concerns / complaints with *ANY* sort of explanation or compensation (in a reasonable amount of time)

*EXACTLY*  Angry

Two E-Mails, us poor, *DEVOTED*, X-10 fans on the East Coast stay up until an UNGODLY hour, and get *NOTHING* in return!  Angry  Angry

One of us (poor, *DEVOTED*, X-10 fans) POSTS a question regarding "The Deal That Never Materialized..." on this great, new forum and guess what - 5 days later and *STILL* NO RESPONSE!!!  Embarrassed

Does *ANYONE* from X-10 Management LOOK at these forums?!? Shocked Huh Sad Roll Eyes

I don't think X-10 marketing realized that the seven switches for $19.99  deal was ever published!   I gather from a conversation with one of their telephone sales staff that if you use Outlook or Outlook Express to read the email you never even see the deal!!!

Either whatever software they use to compose the emails is buggy or they just plain screwed up.  It's actually pretty funny when you think about it, except of course to suckers (myself included) on the East Coast who waited up for the non-existant deal and who are now so hacked off at X-10 that they'll never buy anything.

That's a real "asleep at the switch" problem.    Outlook Express is the most widely used e-mail client in the world. Outlook is #2.  Both refuse to show graphics unless you enable it to do so.   I don't think it's an e-mail problem, it's lack of communication between the Bandit and the X10 Sales Department.

One thing that I noted: in his profile, the Bandit is listed as a "newby", not an X10 Employee. Everybody else from X10 who posts here identifies themselves as being from X10.  Are theses "Deals" real or the wannabes of an ordinary poster?

Dan:
The problem with the emails was that the plain text view didn't match the html view, which is primarily graphics.  It looks like there are two entirely separate files which are combined for the email, and the same (apparently unapproved) text file was included for three or four days without anyone at X-10 noticing.

The X-10 salesperson I spoke with said he could only see the html view under Outlook - I had to send him the text to demonstrate what I was talking about.  He was probably using a system someone else configured and not  himself overly knowledgeable about Outlook options. I personally know nothing about Outlook and haven't used Outlook Express in years, so couldn't tell him what buttons to push.

Aside from this 7-for-1 switch fiasco, the Bandit deals seem to be legit - I got two of them without any problem.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a problem with the person making theses announcements - The Bandit.

Here's his info from all his posts: The BANDIT
Newbie

Not identifying himself as an employee of X10 USA makes him suspect in my mind.
