battery life in my security control console
« on: July 18, 2006, 10:48:43 AM »

the battery life in the control console only lasts a few weeks at best.
I'm spending enough on 9 volt batteries to supscribe to a alarm service.
do I need to get this unit replaced? I have only had the system about 6 months.

Does not sound right. Battery is just to back up settings if the AC Power is lost.

This is obvious, to an old-timer at least so please don't be insulted, but...

  • When you plug your DS7000 IN, does the GREEN AC POWER LED turn ON?
    .
  • When you unplug your DS7000, does the GREEN AC POWER LED turn OFF?
    .
  • You don't happen to have your DS7000 plugged into a SWITCHED OUTLET that someone is turning off?
    .
  • When you trip your DS7000, does the built-in Siren sound LOUDLY? (I'm not even sure if it will sound on just the 9V battery...)

Good thoughts. The KISS [Keep It Simple Stupid] theory. Check the simple stuff and not go off the deep end. Yes sometimes I do just that. ::)
