No Video after disconnecting VA11a
« on: August 26, 2006, 12:07:58 PM »

I unplugged the USB connector for the VA11a while moving another USB cable. When I plugged it back in and restarted my computer, Active home could no longer find the VA11a. It had been reinstalled as an Intel Camera Pro interface. I reinstalled and now my video adapter and USB drivers both show as X10 and AHP fires up without error. However I cannot get any video from any of my cameras. All I get is the logo screen in IWitness. I can pan and tilt the cameras but just don't get any video. Any ideas?

Go to the Windows controll panel and click on the system icon, click on the  hardware tab. Scroll down and under "imaging devices" is the VX11A video capture listed. If it is not you will need to reinstall it. If you search the X10  knowledge base you will find instructions on how to do this.

Good Luck,

Jim

Thanks for your reply. I have already been through that procedure. The VA11a is listed and windows reports that is is working properly.

You may want to try this. It was posted by Tuiceman and seemed to work for another person with your problem

Try this:
1: go to your windows control pannel then system
2:click on hardware then device manager
3:scroll down until you find the VA11A or intel pc cam.
4: right click on it and then click on update driver
5:at the update wizard click no not at this time then next.
6: next screen click instal from a list or specific location(advanced) click next.
7: next screen click don't  search.....click next then have disk
8:here type in C:Program FilesCommon FilesX10DriverInstallVA11A Video Capture click next the VA11A will show up in the next window click next
9: next window says it hasn't passed..... with a warning...bal bal...click continue anyways
10:then click finish that should get you up and running

Nothing against JimC, he's a very helpful guy (we 'might' even be 'electronic buddies'  ::) ), but a few of us ("Old-Timers") have this "Pet Peeve " of:

Have you tried the search option?  :o  :-[  :(  Thanks Tuicemen!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

While JimC was kind enough to REMEMBER  :- the answer, SEARCH  ??? for it, *AND* POST IT  ;D for your benefit - *YOU*  :-[ could have done the same thing yourself!  ::)

[This isn't meant JUST for you (your post was just a "convenient " stepping stone. ;) )

- WAY TOO MANY "Newbies" just post and expect "someone else " to do the "legwork " for them...   :-[ :(  >:(  :'( ]
