Protector Plus Console issues
« on: September 13, 2004, 10:54:14 AM »

Have installed Protector Plus console, 3
door sensors and 1 motion sensor. Every
hour or could be 90 minutes we get 3-4
chimes. Is this indicating some sort of
problem with teh sensors ?? I do not seem
to have any "stray" learned zones included.
Must I reprogram the damn thing again ?

This tells you that something is wrong with a
sensor. The sensor light on the console
should be flashing to tell you which one has
the problem. Slow flashing means battery low,
fast flashing means possible defective sensor.
Its pretty easy to reprogram. I have 8
sensors and can do it in within 5 mins.
Unplug your console and take out the backup
battery. Go to each sensor and press the test
button for 3 sec's. That resets the security
code for that sensor. Once you have them all
done, plug the console back in. Switch the
console to " Install ". Now go to each sensor
and press the test button. You will hear the
consol beep when it accepts it. I know this
all so well because when you change the
batteries in a sensor ( no matter how quick
you do it ), you need to reprogram the
consol. If you dont do a complete re-install,
the sensor you replaced will install in a
new zone and the old zone will continue to flash.

Thanks,,,   igured as much..  What besides
a low or dying batt could cause a sensor to
be bad, especially one right out of the
rapper? (BTW  : I do have the arrows on the
magnets aligned properly)

Its an electronic item. Almost anything can
go wrong, usually within the first 90 days.
Its just the nature of the beast.

Another one.

Jim? Hello Jim? Anybody home? 90min chimes
mean something is opened (a window or
door). That's all. Quit trying to scare the
guy into thinking some is wrong with his
equipment!

Hey Jeff...learn to read before you jump
someones responce.
He said, and I quote:
What besides a low or dying batt could cause
a sensor to be bad, especially one right out
of the rapper?
End Quote

Now if you can read Jeff, you'll see I  did
mention the low battery ( in the 1st responce
to Ian's original post ), and Ian asked
specificly what else could be wrong if not
the battery. To which, I gave him my answer
of the nature of electronics.

So.... Jeff? Hello Jeff? Anybody home? I have
a great link to " Hooked on Phonics " I can
give you, if you need to learn how to read
better.

Thanks guys,,, last question re: this
stuff,,,,
Is there a maximum gap for the magnetic
sensors to be aligned but apart... I'm
thinking like 1/4" might be almost too
much ?...

I just mentioned the gap I have in another
post, you must have been reading my mind.
I have a large gap in a couple thats almost
1/2" ( about 7/16" ). So I am going to say
your plenty safe with 1/4" gap.

Lighten up Jimmy. You're simply guessing
what's wrong, cornhead. Get it right.

I reinstalled again..  I think what had
happened there was that after the initial
install, I armed the sucker and caused an
alarm to initiate,, so sensor indicators 1
and were lit on the console to pinpoint the
break-in. I thought that I could hit arm
and then bypass to clear the alarm
condition, but this did not seem to work.

just have a silent system

The only way I can think of, is to open the
console and disconnect the "horn" wires.

Jeff, how old are you, 13? Why do you have to
act so childish. You have been giving me crap
ever sense I suggested that you not act so
harsh in your responses to a young lady that
asked a question. Everyone here reading these
can surely see your antics. Oh yea, and it
was easy to figure out in another post, that
you posted a snide responce to me by a
different name ( right after 1st your post ).
So do us all a favor and grow up.

Jim

BTW: DO you have an answer for this person?
Can you think of a better way of doing what
he is asking?
