Remote Works / Software Doesn't
« on: January 24, 2005, 09:57:54 PM »

I've loaded the ActiveHome software on a new
computer.  The software will activate only 1
module.  My Remote Control unit will
activate all modules.   When I use the
remote contorl unit the switches in the
software move but when I move the software
switch the module doesn't respond.

Just a guess - but we've (almost all) seen
CM15a continue to work as a transceiver while
all other activities are frozen.  If you
haven't already - remove the CM15 from the AC
power, unplug the USB connection - pull the
batteries - then replace everything in
reverse order and re-download your AHP program.

David,

I had the same problem back in October. Had to exchange
CM15As. The original one wouldn't send signals on the
power line. The second one at least does that, but I still
experience all of the other problems that you see on this
forum.

That's the confusing part.   The software
and CM15a will control some units but the
remote unit will control all units.   But
when the software won't control the unit
when I use the remote control the software
switch still moves in unison with the remote
command.

David T: Do you have more than one
transceiver in your house, besides the CM15A?
If the modules on screen update in response
to the remote control, that means the RF
signal is getting from the remote to the PC.
In order for the module to actually turn on
the, the RF signal is translated to the
powerline, which has to travel from the CM15A
to the module. It sounds like that's the part
that's not working.

For testing, you can try putting the CM15A in
a different power outlet and see if the
powerline signal travels better that way. You
might also move a module temporarily closer
to the CM15A just to see if the powerline
signal makes it there.

Sounds exactly like what was happening to me. The
CM15A is probably defective and not sending powerline
signals (or not sending them consistently). The RF is
working fine and telling the software to flip the switch
icon but it never is sending the powerline signal to
actually control the module.

Thanks for the input.   I've tried the CM15a
in another room, other modules in this room
and many different house codes and unit
codes.   The CM15a just won't talk to some
modules, but the other remotes and
transceivers will.

How hard is it to get the unit replaced?
