New to the forum and have a question. Want to install a XPFM2 to control an in wall air conditioner. Can I control this (on/off) with a WS467 wall switch?

In a word... no. The XPFM2 is an in-line module. The WS467 is also an X10 module. Both modules are switched on and off by X10 PLC (PowerLine Command) signals sent on your homes wiring. Although the WS467 can be controlled locally... passively by using the switch it doesn't send the PLC required.

Typically a device like a transceiver would be plugged into a spare outlet and an remote would be used to send a RF (radio) signal to the transceiver. Like in this starter kit.

Although... the possibilities really are near limitless. Timers, motion sensors, temperature sensors.... or a mix of everything is possible. And welcome to the forums and X10!

So then the only real option to turn it off and on by an X-10 transceiver or a switch on the wall would be the XPS2? My goal is to leave the air conditioner's power switch on all the time and be able to turn it on remotely as well as being in the room.  Thx.

None of the X10 wall switches are two way. So the XPS2 connected to the Air Conditioner would also have to be turned on and off, By a transceiver or power line controller.
Now if the wall switch was just going to control the XPFM. You maybe able to use a XPT with single button faceplate. To control the XPFM inside the air conditioner. The XPT requires a Neutral and Line power connection and it does not have any local loads on it.
