It would be nice to be able to specify what
file AHP loads by default when it is
started.
-
AHP does identify the file it is loading -
look at the title bar - it tells you the
program name "ActiveHome Professional "
then the name of the data file
(ie: "Samples", "MyHome" or what ever you
name it).
-
I am sorry I was not clearer. I realize it
shows the file name it loaded. What I would
like is to be able to set a parameter that
tells AHP what file to load at startup.
-
Just go to the folder and double click the
file that you would like to load and AHP
will load that file.
-
Or better yet, place a short-cut onto the
desktop pointing to your file - click and
there it is.
-
Of course I could do that, and I do.
Why not have an option in AHP so that a file
of my choice would load each time I start
the software. The file it currently loads at
start up is not the one I use. Just a way to
make AHP a little more user friendly
-
"...The file it currently loads at start up

If you load and save the file you want use,
it will become your default.
-
What would be of real value would to have a
default marco execute upon restoration of
power. I don't believe this can don't with
just software, however.
Note: See the discussion and link about a
hardware device to aid with this in the
forum "Noam has a question"

"I don't believe this can don't with just

should read...

My kingdom for a forum editor. :)
-
The value of a "power restoration" macro
would be to turn back on all those things
that should be on, but don't come back on by
themselves when power is restored, like wall
switches, lamp modules, etc. If power goes
out at night, and comes back on, I want my
porch lights to come back on, instead of
staying off all night.
-
Steven - I must apologize. I mis-read your
post. you were agreeing with my point on the
usefulness of the macro.
I don't think it can be done with just
software, although since the CM15A "knows"
when it is running on batteries versus AC
power, there should be a way for the X10
folks to add that as a macro trigger. Of
course, the macro would run every time you
unplug and plug the CM15A back in, but
that's a small price to pay for the added
functionality.
I plan on using a modified Mini-Controller
to send an M1 On when it is plugged in. The
CM15A will then trigger my M1 On macro,
which will turn on the appropriate lights.

Steven,
I wish that were true but in my case saving
the file does not set it as the default. I
have tried this several times and AHP still
loads the very first file I created months
ago. It does not load the last saved file.
-
"...AHP still loads the very first file I

last saved file."
It works for me. I'd ask X10 what's
happening.
-
Jim: AHP should load the last file you used.
What version of Windows are you running? When
you log into Windows, what user access do you
have?
-
X10
I am running Windows XP SP2.
I am not sure what you mean by “ what user
access do you have”.
Jim

Sorry X10 I must have gone brain dad when I
read your post at work.
User access is administrator.
-
OK, now I really feel stupid.
My problem was, off course, my own doing.
I was starting AHP from a short cut on my
desktop. The problem was that the short cut
was pointing to one of the files I had
saved and not the AHP software directly. I
redid the shortcut and now AHP launches the
last file I had open in AHP.

Your discovery might prove useful if anyone
needs to setup AHP for a lay person that
doesn't need to be messing with file
settings.
