I am working on writing my own program to control my lighting and I am thinking about venturing into some x10 security devices. However, I am wondering if it is possible to send/receive commands from the SDK. I have found some older topics regarding the existence of the commands, but nothing relating to how to actually do it.
-
As of right now the SDK can't access the security devices or see their signals although X10 has talked of upgrading the SDK it is anyones guess to if the security device part will get added.

I can see the security devices in my code, I have just started decoding the replies, I hope to have done today.
-
Have you been able to get the codes to work?
-
Yes, I am releasing some very special software this week that can read the X10 security devices. I am a blogger for X10 and you will see it posted on the Blog as soon as I release the software.

Btw, it's not easy but it can be done! you have be a very experienced deep programmer.
-
I got close using a usb sniffer and libusb for the driver, but it was too much trouble not using the X10 driver.
With the usb sniffer I noticed different init codes sent to the device depending on if you had a security device enabled with active home. With this code is would send a signal when the security device was tripped, but without it nothing would happen.
Are you using the X10 driver or third party?
-
I am using the X10 drivers. It can be done, even without AHP. Once I publish my new app I will expand on how to do it, (don't have time at the moment)
-
Are you using the newest SDK?
-
I too am interested in how this is done. My own setup has some limited support, but that's because AHP is turning phantom switches on and off for me and my code is reading those instead of the actual security devices. Any code on reading from door sensors would be much appreciated!

If you are that deep, then you should be able to write us a better X10 driver?
I'll keep an eye on this post.

Any updates?

shh, we are going deeper.

Be patient folks, I have been disabled with since February 2010, I am slowly coming back to normal. As I stated, I will post VB6 code showing how to read the security devices when I have ample time. I am working on other things at this time, one of them being a device that will allow you to use the cell phone apps WITHOUT your computer being on! Also test the new software be releasing, It's a slow process, I get exhausted writing code for an hour, Doctor appointments and therapy also consume much of my time!

Bob,
You take as much time as you need. Just be mindful that I could wet my pants in anticipation. Keep up the good fight.
-
Bob,
How goes the project?
-
Hey Bob!
I thought I'd throw out there that I'd be happy to make a donation to your PayPal account, if it'd help expedite your code release. I have a few members in my household on disability, so I know how it goes.
I too, obviously, am waiting excitedly!

Yeah, I wet my pants just laughing at this.

You have the hardest time hanging on to your coffee, don't you? (out the nose, in your pants, etc)

Yeah, I shot milk and a mini wheat out my nose the other day.

+1 for anticipation... Any news on this thread would be great, and as a software nerd, I'd be happy to do anything I can to help...

Guess this is happening slower that expected. :'
-
I suspect macrobob discovered the sdk wouldn't see all codes.
True it will report seeing door sensors but usualy after a batery change the SDK fails to see it any longer. ::) :'
-
It's been a year now anyone seen or heard from macrobob about this amazing code we are all waiting for? Or has anyone else figured out how to see the x10 security components?
-
I think Bob has left the building. (it's a shame too. I hear he was a very deep programmer.)
-
I think he got in to deep and couldn't get out ! rofl

He states that he has a lot of health issues, maybe he's took a turn to the worse? Just saying. I pray that he is okay and doing well. :)
