Title: Reinstalling Software
Post by: woodwizzard on December 04, 2008, 02:27:38 PM
Having trouble installing new or changing existing macro's and timers.  When I make the change and download, the download takes place but the new timer or macro fails to load (work).  Existing macros and timers continue to function properly.  I have unplugged the CMA and removed the batteries, purged the unit and reloaded the macros and timers but the result is the same.  I now have a fresh copy of the software from Active Home in hopes that this might help but I need to know the procedure to reinstall the software without loosing all the data, macros and timers that I have in the program.  I have been told to export files to a .ahx file but am not quite sure how to do that nor how to make use of it after the reload.  Any of you experts willing to give some free advice?  Thx!

When you make changes in AHP and save it saves the info in an AXH file located in the AHP folder!
One thing you may wish to try is to empty AHPs waste basket before you save and download to the CM15A
Then test your new macros. Many have notice this issue with the waste basket!

I reinstalled yesterday, and came upon a couple of issues.

Both Brett & Thomas sent me the software and a detailed set of instructions.  However after installing the OnAlert plugin, when AHP starts up it immediately threw the Vista Application Failed error and shuts down.

I followed the instructions 3 times (that's a minimum of 9 re-boots). - No joy.

Then I MOVED my AHX file and it started.  (and I was able to load that AHX and save it and it's now o.k.)

So the issue was/is that even if you remove all X10 stuff via Wiki directions, somewhere (registry?) there's still a pointer to the last-used ahx file.

The registry is the cause of a lot of issues!
One needs a registry cleaner (http://www.amltools.com/free-registry-cleaner-tutorial.html) in their arsenal of PC repair/maintenance software!

Thanks!  I thought that's where it is/was.
