Title: Windows Command: Playing a Sound
Post by: devedsmith on October 05, 2008, 01:46:58 AM
First, the whole "forgot password" for this forum SUCKS. It had the correct email but every time I put in the NEW password I was routed back to the forgot password screen... so, I had to create a whole new account.

ANyway... I need to be able to play a sound when an x10 "ON" singnal is received. How do I do that? Nothing in the known "command line" world seems to work. Did x10 people miss this in the application? I've tried all combinations of command line switches but nothing works. I can OPEN an application but I can't seem to DO anything with it. Seems like a waste of time so far.

As JMac mentioned the X10 WavPlayer or the NEW PC Companion (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=14508.0) will do that (and MORE).

I use BVC (http://davesdomainonline.com/bvc/bvc.htm) (also in third party software (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=15753.0)) myself. Not only can I play wav or Mp3 files.... I can use the MS speech and make the computer LISTEN and talk. I have a YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/suitmanIM) you can see. I Voice command my lights and devices on and off... and get great voice announcements, reminders and warnings.
I even used a dog-barking wav file to create my own (free) version of robb-dog.
