Title: Buy a CM15 USB to replace with my cm11 ?? (help a beginner)
Post by: liteglow on February 23, 2008, 11:25:24 AM

I did just buy the CM11 with Active home.
And it`s alot of fun and works somethimes fine....

But after I start to learn more about the X10 and how stuff works.
I did find out that there is something called cm15 (correct??) and that has USB with antenna and transmitter.

So if I buy that included wit Active Home Pro, my X10 system will be better and I can give away my old CM11+RF transmitter\sender module ?

plz let me know if I should buy Active Home Pro with this CM15 ;)
I`m sitting with the "buy it now" button here and waiting...

but need to know before I buy that there is nothing that is called CM40 heh :p

Thanx

Hit the buy button now!
AHP with its CM15A is the latest thing out and is far more versatile than the old CM11A! It uses a USB connection to connect to the computer. In addition, the old AH CM11A has known connect problems with some Windows XP computers. That makes using the CM11A a headache to get working. Often requiring an additional adapter cable to get it to work.
I could go on for hours about the things that you can do with macros in the new software and hardware but part of the fun is experimenting yourself.

Thanx..
That was exatcly the reply I want ;)

Yes I know what I can do with the macros.
Have been playing with macros, lamp sockets, and IR detactors :D
Alot of fun !

And yes the CM11 is a pain to use somethimes becouse of the COM cable :o
I buying the CM15 now and hope that will be better :D

btw: (OT)  But I did make a macro with my IR detector to TURN ON LAMP 50% when IR sense a motion. (like a night light)
But the problem is that when I have my lamp "on" daytime, it dims to 50% when the IR sensor sense a motion..

Maybe I should start this in a new thread..

Since you now have Active Home and the CM11A serial interface and are upgrading to Active Home Pro/CM15A usb interface, you should know that AHP will import your .x10 files (from Active Home) and convert them to the .ahx files AHP uses. You should not loose anything (timers & macros) from the old AH.

I had so many problems getting the old CM11 to work - tried changing systems, PCs and so on!
The CM15Pro worked straight away and has resurrected my interest in X10!
Although I've seen some forums with negative remarks on the CM15Pro - I'd recommend it!
Title: UPDATE: Recived the CM15 but it does NOT support 220volt :(
Post by: liteglow on March 10, 2008, 01:29:44 PM
Hi

I have an update !!

I did recive my CM15 USB transmitter\reciver today.
But as I did "not" think about when I did order it, was that it ONLY support 110Volt (and not 220Volt) !!

I did try a converter that transfor the power down from 220V and to 110Volt 50hz ..
The module seems to be "ok" in Active home Pro software..

But no responce to whatever I try to switch On\Off :(

So my guess is that the converter is separated fysicly from the 220Volt net in my house  :-\

Then I`m back to my old CM11 again  :'( :'(

damn......

Where are you located?  US & Canada use 110 volts for lighting & appliances, 220 Volt for electric stoves.

If you bought AHP/CM15A from X10 USA, then you are in in US or Canada, if not then from where?

liteglow   Actually there are a number of users on here from the UK, Europe and other countries that are on 220 and they have the CM15A configured and working!(They may jump in) ;)
There also is a CM15EU version out there which plugs directly into the wall(220Volt)! There also is a AHP-EU software!
Doing an Advanced Search  (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?action=search;advanced) will turn up all the info you need for any of the above! ;)

Thanx for your answer :)

Btw: I live in Norway !
We have 220volt 60hz

Maybe there is a EU version of the CM15 ( ? )   But it`s a pain in the ass to order X10 in Norway!
So far there is only 2 web shops TOTAL in Norway that sells EU-220volts modules !!
And the only interface they sell is the cm11 with Serial port  (the one I got)

So eBay is the only place I can get X10 modules at a "normal" price...
And I have not yet found any other sellers that ships and sell x10 220volt modules!

yes I will do some advance search about the CM15 and how to get it work with the 220volt net in my house!

And btw. I did also buy 3 x10 Wireless IR sensors.  ms14a .
And they did NOT work with my TM13 Wireless x10 reciver (that is plugged into my 220volt and send signals to the lamp modules) ???
But my ms13u IR sensors does work percetly with my TOM13 reciver..

So why is that ??
Is there diffrent MHZ ranges in the wireless IR sensors ?? (EU-mHz and US-mHz standars)

I`m really confused becouse on the box it says "work with X10 transresivers"   :-\

Yes I know the US are 310 MHz and I believe it is 418 MHz overseas.

Since you are in Norway, try X10 Europe at http://www.x10europe.com/  They should ship to Norway.

I dont find that x10 europe sell any CM15 interface !
And I dont understand how to buy anyway from them..

Actually I dont find out that there exist ANY x10 CM15 product that is 220Volt ..
So i think i give up the idea og using x10 in Norway ...

It looks like there is a huge loss of x10 products support in Europe !!

It`s like start building a computer, and you find out you never gonna find a CPU to use in it !! POINTLESS!!

So I have a CM15 and 3IR sensors I sell if you need it...
They all support US mHz, and 110volt  :-\

Maybe X10 Europe don't seel the CM15E but they do exist!
Check the thread: Can this be used in the UK, with UK X10 devices??   (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=4542.msg83448#msg83448) <link ;)
I posted links to the purchace page and a PIC. Hope that helps you! ;)
I also have a link to the AHP-EU version with European modules displayed in the interface and the SmartMacros plug-in(included in AHP-EU) on my web site!

The design is a little different as it is made for 220 volt but yes the same! ;)
The USA software will still work with it, only the drag and drop modules in the program are those available for that market!
Thanks for posting the link to an non French site! ;)

Yep I did not find any more sellers (unless the french one, for 220Volt) !
So this is a Norwegian seller..

And if there is anyone else out there that need 220Volt CM15 ?
Let me know and I can ship it out from here :)
