ICON remote with Sony NSZ-GT1

I dunno if anyone is still monitoring this forum,  I hope so!  I'm very happy with my ICON remote. Too bad it's not being made anymore (best I can tell).

I have a Sony NSZ-GT1 DVD player. It's a DVD player that does many other thing (Web browser, Netflix, ete).  It has a Sony NSG-MR1 remote (it has a keypad and mouse function for the DVD player).  My problem is the ICON won't learn from this remote.  Every time I try to program a key it gives me the key not learned message.  Has anyone else had problems with 'odd' remotes?h

I've had issues with the icon not learning some codes from original remotes.
Since I also have other learning remotes I found that if I program the codes to one of the other remotes the Icon will learn from them
I also found the same issue with my USB-Uirt  and some remotes
