Due to popular request from users I just wanted to let everyone know I just added support for the older CM11, CM12, CM17 Firecracker modules to X10 Commander (http://melloware.com/products/x10commander/)

In the latest version 1.2 X10 Commander now works over 3G and Edge networks so you can control your lights from anywhere in the world.
If you are having trouble with your devices please consult our forums as their is some trickiness with the CM17.

Well the server side part of X10 Commander can have any number of clients written for it. Currently the only client is for the iPhone/iPod Touch but if someone is so inclined they could write an app for the LG VU. I know nothing about those devices nor do I own any hardware to develop or test on. Other users of Blackberry devices have asked a similar question...

Wouldn't be a Windows Mobile version in the works?

Unfortunately I didn't plan on a Windows Mobile Version.
I have been asked for a Blackberry Bold version too but with all the different platforms its just too hard to have the time to write versions for them all. I chose the iPhone/iPod Touch because a) I own an iPhone b) have sold around 20 million units and are sweeping the world by storm and c) the API and distribution model were excellent.

Could we control more than one server? I would like to log onto one PC and control that, and then easily switch to another computer and control that on?????

One other user asked for this too saying he had X10 network at his office and at his home. I never thought about this scenario figuring everyone just used one CM device at home. I can add it to my TODO list for future enhancements but no promise on timetable!

Tom,
Thanks for the props! It is so nice to hear from satisfied customers. It's a nice refreshing change from the normal tidal wave of flames that I receive about my iPhone apps. ;D

Just wanted to let everybody know that X10 Commander now supports MacOSX server natively thanks to the wonderful folks over at ThinkingHome (http://www.alwaysthinking.com/thinkingHome.html). This way if you have a Mac you won't have to run X10 Commander Server in Parrallels or VMWare Fusion anymore just to run my little app.

I could use some help here. I would like to download x10 Commander to my iphone to use with my PC to (Via internet) control an appliance or two. Please help me to decide what controller I need.......(cm11, cm12.....?)
And, what is involved in the set-up. If there is a FAQ or set of instructions that i can read, please point me to them.
Thank You

wharfrat,
I recommend a CM15 USB since they are easier to find since I think they stopped making the CM11 and a lot of computers don't have serial ports.
As for X10 hardware and setup well that is best left to the X10 instructions that come with your hardware. X10 Commander is only for controlling your lights not instructions on how to set up your lights.
After that you simply run our X10 Commander EXE on the PC connected to the USB CM15 and then your iPhone X10 Commander connects to the PC and controls your lights. That's pretty much it.
IF you are using a CM15 don't forget to install the SDK Drivers: http://www.x10.com/activehomepro/sdk/index.html (http://www.x10.com/activehomepro/sdk/index.html) but if you are using a CM11 or CM17 you do not need those SDK drivers.

I think only the CM15 and CM19 are USB.
x10 offers cm19a alone and with video USB connector
Do I need that if I don't plan to use a camera?
-
I apologize I don't know much at all about Cameras and X10. I don't own any.
