Pro USB Unit Locking up
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:03:53 AM »

Since installing Smart Macros I have been having issues with my USB Unit locking up.  It will not go 24 hours without locking.  Unit must be unplugged and the batteries must be replaced to "reset" so I gave up leaving batteries in.  The unit did not lock up for the month or so I used AHP before I purchased smart macros.  If running from software I get a message on screen that an error has occurred with the USB unit.  If running from unit only I get this error as soon as I start AHP after I notice nothing is working.  The unit will lock even with the USB cable unplugged from unit.  Sometimes the unit will not lock, but macros stop responding even though they are showing triggering on the screen.  Again, unit must be unplugged to get it to work again. Anyone else have this problem?  Do I have a defective unit? I have tried clearing memory and redownloading but this does not help.  Smart macros are great, while they work.  I use flags in my macros if this could be part of the problem?

You should be able to use Smart Macro
conditions and flags without seeing this kind
of problem. What version of ActiveHome Pro
are you using? When did you purchase
ActiveHome Pro?

Chris:  I had a similar problem about a
month ago with the CM15a USB port and
transceiver locking up every 24 hours or
so.  Strangely enough the timers and macros
continued to work.  At first I thought it
was a bug with version 3.179, but now I
think it wasn’t related to the software
version, but instead some type of software
corruption from multiple upgrades.  After I
un-installed, re-installed and upgraded
directly to the latest version, it started
working normally again.  I hope this helps.

I bought a CM15A ActiveHome Pro in late
early April 2005 with Smart Macros and also
noticed the same problem!  I did not remove
my SmartMacros to see if that was causing
it, but will do so now just to test.
However, for me to reset the unit, all I had
to do was unplug it from the wall without
moving the batteries!  Once I unplugged it
and moved it to another outlet, it started
to work again.  When it doesn't work, it
behaves as its frozen and doesn't give out
or receive commands
