Title: Macro to dim Hme Theater lights
Post by: flavio silva on July 16, 2005, 09:43:30 PM
Hi, guys,

Is it possible to write a macro to..
say...  take about 20 seconds to dim Home
theater  lights from full bright to 0%?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Flavio

First of all, Flavio, I would highly
recommend that you use the LM14A Two-Way
Lamp Module instead of the cheaper ones.
These are beauties.  First of all, they
always fade on slowly (about 2 seconds) and
always return back to the brightness level
that they were at before you turned them
off.   When you turn them off, they fade
out, again in about two seconds or so.

You have to see this to know how sexy it
is.  I have them installed on my under-
cabinet lights in the kitchen and when you
walk in, they fade on and later when you
leave they fade off.  It is so smooth that
most people don’t even notice that they were
off before they entered the room.

The older modules always come on instantly
at full brightness and you have to dim them
to what you want.  In a home theatre, this
is shocking and someone always groans!

You may find that you don't even need a
macro because they work so well, but maybe I
will write one for you if I can get it to
work.

However, I might warn you that AHP macros
are frustratingly flaky and you will tear
your hair out trying to get them to work
reliably.  They still have an enormous
number of bugs in the software and they
don't seem to be making much progress fixing
them.
