Title: TR16A (touch tone controller) question
Post by: michael on February 11, 2006, 06:39:52 PM
I am planning to set up the TR16A on a line
currently used only by a fax machine. If I
set up the controller to respond only when
the PIN number is entered, will I still need
to wait 15 seconds before I can enter the pin
number or can the number be entered at any
time? This is important because I want to be
able to control the TR16A before the fax
machine picks up the line. Also, will the
unit still beep 3 times when set this way, or
will it simply remain silent until the pin
number is entered?

Thanks.

Is the TR16A going to answer the phone or
the fax machine? I maybe able to run a test.

The fax machine will answer the phone, but
I'd like to be able to input the pin number
before it picks up.

Michael - If the fax machine answers the
phone, how will you enter PIN in TR16. It is
either fax OR TR16, not both isn't it?

The TR16 can be set to be a lurker. Just
listen for the pin after something answeres,
but how you stop the fax from starting it's
connect tone?

Great. The fax only picks up if something
else doesn't pick up first, so I could just
increase the number of rings before it picks
up. The TR16A will be installed at a small
business and the phone system is too complex
to set it up on any other line. The idea is
that when the modem crashes and I can't
remote desktop into my office computer, I can
reset it remotely without driving all the way
to the office and back. We already have a few
left over X10 modules from the aqua
controller 2 we have set up.

That may work as the TR16A can be set to
answer first.
