Title: Water & Temp Sensors
Post by: drum on February 05, 2006, 12:31:47 AM
I purchased a Winland MTA-1 temp switch and
a couple of water sensors to use with
door/window sensor units.  Needless to say,
it wasn't as easy as I thought.  X-10
doesn't give you much info on the sensors
n/o or n/c so I ended up having to add a
relay and some extra batteries(rechargable)
to make it work.  Now I have 2 water sensors
(one just for the water heater, I have a
lot of problems with the pressure relief
valves, 5 in 4 years) and a hi/low temp
alarm.  It cost more than I originally
thought but still cheaper than sensaphone
and I can add almost any alarm device to
the x-10 alarm with the door/window unit.
It helps to know they are normally closed
only put out about 2v, and don't like
rechargable batteries.

Yes they are closed when satisfied by the
magnet being close to the switch. The 2V is
about normal as it is the logic pin of an IC
being pulled to the 3 volt supply by a
resistor.
