Title: Major problems after AHP 3.310 upgrade
Post by: paet101 on April 10, 2011, 09:40:23 AM
I've been using AHP for about 7yrs. I just upgraded to 3.310 and now almost none of my devices are working.

I was having reliability issues with a couple of modules before the upgrade but now almost all of my 15 devices have stopped working. I tried installing a phase coupler/repeater (Smarthome 4826A) but that hasn't helped at all. I've done the usual X-10 CM-15 reset (battery pull) and I've tried moving the CM-15 to various receptacles but nothing seems to be working.

Has anyone else experienced these problems with their upgrade to 3.310?

Thanks.

AHP 3.310 has added support for the soft start versions of wall switches and lamp modules.
If your modules are not soft start and your AHP was below 3.304 {I think it was 3.304}. Use the list old non soft start and redefine them. If not AHP sends extended messages to them that old modules do not understand.

I think Brian's on the right track here.
What was the last version you had before you upgraded? SoftStart support was added in version 3.302, and it sounds like your lamp (and wall switch) modules are older than the 2008 switchover to SoftStart.
Re-defining any of your lamp or wall-switch modules using the "Old Lamps - no SoftStart" category should work.

Hi Brian & Noam - redefining the modules really helped...thanks for the advice. In the future, where are instructions like this found.I didn't see any "release notes" or readme files with the upgrade.

Also, I removed the phase coupler/repeater (Smarthome 4826A) I recently bought just to eliminate that variable. I still have some reliability issues. Do you think the phase coupler/repeater will help?

Thanks again.

I would keep the coupler/repeater, it seems clear that your issues were software related. Without the unit, other issues will likely show up especially if you have run for some time with it successfully.

Thanks for the links and the feedback on the phase coupler/repeater. Things are working well again.
