Bath Room Lighting
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:34:50 AM »

How can I set my bathroom lights to motion activated? Everything is "hard wired".. Thought I could use a socket rocket but they can't be dimmed at night.......Would like them to be "Full Power" during awake hours and "dimmer" at night (like a night light)... How can I do this??

:' Bet I have to buy something else.........................

:' Bet I have to buy something else...............

I've been using X10 for a few years now... and I've been lucky enough to acquire not only extras of the parts I use... but parts that I pick-up with X10 deals. So... now even with a large plastic tub of X10 parts... it still seems I always have to buy something when I start a new project.

You have to buy more  rofl that will make your wife happy.

You are using AHP right? you can wire in a ws467 (or another x10 dimming wall switch) for the switch that controls the lights. Then you have to get one of the X10 motion sensors like the MS14A.

In AHP you can set up a macro that says when the MS14A sees motion from the hours of 8am-8pm turn the lights on bright. Then between the Hour of 8pm to 8am they tun on at 50% (or what ever dim setting you like.) There is like 10 ways to write that macro I'm sure you will see that when you get all your stuff.

Again just one way of doing it!! Good Luck

OH yes. Seems even the package deals and storing the extras. Never gets you a module needed for a future addition.  rofl

No, you need to take our guidance and learn to live with the headaches, because X-10 does not always work as planned.  If you purchase smart macros, you can usually get some modules thrown into the deal.  I would purchase 2 motion sensors and a dimmable wall switch,  I would set up a macro that when the motion sensor senses activity, and it is during sleeping hours, then wait 5 seconds, turn the lights on at 40% power for a couple of minutes and then shut them off.  During non-sleeping hours you could set up a macro that if it is light, and activity is detected to turn the lights on at 70% power, but if it is dark then give full-power.  Of course you need to leave an option for the exceptions

Yea, what is it about x10 that is so addicting? (As I turn on my lamp via the ICON so I can see to type this.)
Turning on and off stuff via other things than a switch and dimming does something to us boys like shoes to girls.

I find myself looking for used x10 stuff I might get on the cheap on eBay when I don't need anything.
Wait, I always could use something.

Hey Dave, put your tub up on the ebay so we can see what's in there.  ;D

You have to find them used on ebay and the like.
Try searching for "plug 'n power"
BTW: If you don't use the quotes, you will be flooded with plug 'n play stuff.

bitmans right Dave_a10_L.... look on E bay..

I have several things that use to come from Radio Shack. Like their Lamp Modules ( which I like better then the X10) they have a little door on them that closes so you can't see the dials, and they are a little smaller.
