Post by: Screech on May 17, 2004, 04:11:41 PM
Can you hear this from the outside if it is
going off on the inside of the house?

Only if you place it close to an opening.

I faced the same problem.  I resolve it by
adding an X10 controlled outlet outside
near by the roof.  I attached a siren. I
set the outlet house and unit code the same
as my DS7000.  When the alarm trigger, the
siren turn on, since the DS7000 send an X-
on to remote appliance with its house and
unit code.

Does anyone have a schematic for a circuit
that will activate a Power Horn.
Thanks, Jim

As I understand the DS7000, it only
sends "all lights on" codes when
activated.  This will not control an
Applicance module (only Lamp modules are
effected).  But I did the same thing.
Installed an outlet near the peak of my
garage (inside).  Puchased an "outdoor
rated" RadioShack power horn (12 volt), and
powered it from a 12-volt transformer
plugged into a lamp module.  The alarm
toggles on & off with the lights, and then
stays on at the end of the cycle (just like
the house lights do.

I know X10 says that Lamp modules should be
used for incandescent lights only, but it
worked just fine for me.
