the parts are expensive now this will cost about 50.00 bucks to build or more. and you have to build it.
if you have most of the parts laying around or good at scrounging then it can be cheap.
i had the keypads and lock ic's all ready, the lock ic's where 1.50 ea. now like 12 bucks ea.
and making the traces for the 4 dips is complacated.
so iam going to use a RFID keypad or a CL-8 keypad, these are eprom programable from the keypad and the CL-8 is about 52.00 brand new and the
RFID is like 14.00 on ebay. brand new

i bid on the CL-8 on ebay if won it wood be 21.00 dollars used, so i bought the RFID for 14.98 it comes with 10 key fobs
i will be adding the transmitter to this one,the nice thing about this one is you can just swip the key fob or use a passcode, i will be installing this one in the house and setting D/W sensor to max. my DS7000 came with 4 key chain remotes so this one will only cost 14.98 plus some labor much better on  the pocket book.

it is sad when it costs more to build then to just buy somthing ???
most of the fun is buildding somthing from scratch and a sence of acompleshment.
but i need one now so i will keep this quick and simple for thoughs that need one soon for kid access.

I can remember all the HeatKits I built.
Actually cost more manytimes than a mass produced one.
Though you knew they where built correct and didn't have low ball parts in them.

Oh HeathKit...where did you go......?
Boy do I miss them. Would love to have another shot at my HW-101 (ham radio).
Oh, and that weather station too.

As long as we are paying homage, don't forget Allied Radio in Chicago with their "Knightkit" kits. I loved my Knightkit Shortwave receiver. But I was about 12 when I built mine....with a Weller soldering gun...sigh. I had to take it to the local TV repair shop to get it working. Undoubtedly a solder short on the 6L6 socket.  rofl

Sweet, is that a tube type? looks like it.
Oh yes, early 1960's. I think it had seven tubes, and none of them were 6L6's  :D

here is the Transmitter Mod. I ran the 2 wires from the dis-arm to a 12v Reed Relay mounted on a small pice of perf board.

Fully funtioning,  the disarm is operated by the passcode or just swip the key fob to dis-arm.

They do sell a weather proof box for out door installation,in this case use the tampper proof switch, and hot glue transmitter securly.so as if some one steals the keypad they will distroy the transmitter trying to get it off. hook up the ARM wires to the door Bell so you can just arm the system by pressing the door bell button,no passcode needed to arm.

Up-Date
ok the keypad is a power monger, the 9v battery last's about 8 hours,so you can hard wire with a transformer .
Title: Re: Keypad wireless conbination lock Transmitter

up-Date
the RFID keypad requiers constant power at all times, if you have a power faillure and the power comes back on it will
activate the relay and disarm your system, so you have to use a 9v battery and a transformer use to diods to make a batery back-up. so when power go's out it will run on the batery, some sort of fail safe in the design.

the CL-8 has a pair of isolated contacts and go's in to a stand by mode to save batery life.
the CL-83 comes with 2 keypads 1 for outdoor and 1 for indoor but about 250.00.
i think for easy hook up the CL-8 indoor wood be a better choice.

the used CL-8 i got off ebay didn't work had to send it back,be-carful of used ones, i think the keys where wore out becouse it wood not excepted inputs, so i wood get a new one.

FOR THE KEYPAD ONLY,       250MA OR MORE TRANSFORMER 9V TO 12V the transformer has to be a bit higher voltage then the batery.

DO NOT PUT MORE THAN 9 VOLTS TO THE TRANSMITTER OR YOU WILL FRY-IT!!!  ADD A 2AAA BATERY HOLDER FOR THE TRANSMITTER POWER.
Title: Re: Keypad wireless conbination lock Transmitter
Post by: dwp on December 29, 2010, 05:58:13 PM
THEN YOU HAVE TO MAKE A SPACER PLATE, FOR THE BOTTOM, OF THE KEYPAD,HOLLOW OUT FOR THE BATERIES.

OK Finally, all set up with batery back-up & transformer & 2 AAA bat holder for the transmitter. had to install a dual ac switch with an outlet.
the door sensor is set to max, i wish the delay was programable. but it's not and it is fast maybe 4 sec's,  it works great so-far, i will make a better spacer plate later.

if you get a RFID controler get it from kawa mall the hong kong controlers kind of suck hard to read the manual and the programming is differante, i ended up with 3 kinds of controlers and the kawa mall controler is better. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE WIRE SCREWS. OR  !!!

Ok it is a good thing that i got the RFID controller with the key Fobs, the delay in armming from the consol is long and the time to dis-arm is short, so the key Fob works great,as soon as you open the door you have to swip the key Fob,if you are fumblling with stuff and ponch the wrong code in, the alarm will go off and the consol is calling every one, so the key Fob is very handie.
now that i have the dis-arm down i have had NO false alarms. and the keypad is working Great.

Here is the new back plate, this plate makes every thing 1 pice, every thing is contained in the back plate, with the weather cover. the weather cover also protects the key-pad.
3/4 wite pine to fit the cover.
