How do you tell ActiveHome Pro about Slim Line switches or key chain remotes?

You can't. Generally only receiving modules are selectable to add to a room. I guess the logic behind not having remotes / controllers in AHP is you can't control them with AHP.

It would be nice to be able to add them in just to have a visual reference of what you have.

Then, there are also two DISTINCT mutually-exclusive protocols - PLC and RF.

That is not an option,
You need to remember your codes, and set up everything.  I keep a notebook, and identified the different remotes in the notebook, so I can keep track of the codes and macros.  It is a pain in the behind, but if your computer, ever crashes you will be glad you kept a backup record.  My computer crashed 3 months ago, and I am still finding items which are not set up.  I stopped kepping track, and now I am paying for it.

If  you want to keep the info in Active Home Pro about your remotes try this:
 

• simply add a dummy module/sensor in AHP
  
• Name the dummy the remote  and enable "Show Module Notes" under "Preferences"
  
• Then click on the little yellow notepad that is in the bottom left corner of the dummy and type in your notes!
  
• Don't forget to save afterwards ;) :D ;D
  

Now when you backup AHP your notes are saved as well!
I've been doing this for the modules and macros since I started!
Some macros/modules are self explanatory!
Hopefuly nklght as well as others will find this helpful! ;)
AHP doesn't need to be told about remotes as it sees all RF traffic (with in range  ::) )

Thanks for the tips. It is nise to have it all in one place. Plus you can print reports for a paper backup.

You can also keep a backup copy of the .AHX file on a floppy or CD for use when the computer does crash. :o  I also keep a running list of all of the unit and house codes I use and what each does in an Excel spreed sheet. I use this as a quick reference when adding new modules or making changes to my setup. :)
