How far apart can magentic switches be on door/window sensor
« on: March 31, 2005, 06:34:52 AM »

My windows, like most, have trim arounnd
them.  Do the magentic switches need to be
perfectly flush with each other?  How far
apart can/should they be?

Thanks.

I've got a couple with what look like some
pretty significant gaps in them, about 1/4
inch, and they are working.  On some others
I pulled the trim down and notched it out
for a cleaner look and better fit.  Again,
it's something you might have to play with.
I'd set the system to "Run 2" and listen
for the chimes when you pull the magnet too
far away.

hey craig
mine are real close together as the base
part seems to respond from it every 4 hrs.
and if the door contacts aren't working you
will see the light(s) flash on the unit.
i had some that were far apart and had this
issue. but once i did my trouble shooting.
it was because they  were toofar apart. and
now i don't get that stupid beeping every
5mins or so.
