Title: SDK No Longer Works After Installing 3.18
Post by: greywolf on March 06, 2005, 12:05:59 PM
I have been running a VB.NET application
which controls X10 security cameras on a
private website for 3 months.  It uses
sendrf to set ninja pan/tilt mounts to one
of the 4 preprogrammed posititions.  After
installing version 3.18 everything stopped
working both from the ahcmd interface and
the .dll object.  I depend heavily on being
able to control these cameras and I am at
risk by "blind spots" on my monitoring site
since I had to revert to "sweep" mode
manually started from a remote.

How can X10 encourage development using the
CR15A if they are going to keep breaking
the interface.  I currently have my alarm
system monitored by Orca (an X10
subsidiary) but I am seriously considering
severing all business with X10 since their
support is non-existant.

X10, PLEASE FIX THE SDK NOW OR QUIT
PROMOTING IT!

Greywold: I'll look into this. I can't see
any reason why the SDK would behave
differently. You can go back to the previous
version of the AHP using this linke:

Strange I updated without a problem, did
you try reinstalling the sdk?

I cannot get the link to 3.179 to work.
When I paste it into IE I get "file not
found".

None of these links worked for me.  I get a
404 error when pasting them into Internet
Explorer.  I am running Windows XP service
pack two, so perhaps that is blocking the
links.  Could you please e-mail me upgrade
(downgrade) ZIP file at the above address.
Thank you.

Greywolf
This forum software (using the term loosely)
adds double spaces to lengthy URL's.  You
have to copy/paste the whole URL to a notepad
(or something) and eliminate the double
spaces before trying the link.  I just tried
the URL supplied by Burnt - and it works.

But here - I think I can get around it - use
this:
http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/ahp_updt_179.exe

Greywold: The "/software" I put in the URL
was wrong. Sorry for the mistake. That's what
I get for typing it out by hand instead of
copying and pasting.

Joe S: Thanks for posting the correct link.

FWIW:  When U find a posted URL with a
"break" (those stray spaces), U can copy and
paste it in two steps.

For downloadable software, manuals, info,
etc. try

ftp://software.x10.com
or
ftp://ftp.x10.com

Both work for me in IE 6

FWIW

I've read from the bottom of this thread and
thought I would jump in...

X10 was notified many times that the 3.180
update hammered parts of the SDK on this
forum and emails.  THEY KNOW IT WAS BROKEN
and have said they will issue an updated SDK
with fixes...twice so far.

It has not been issued yet!
