Title: Divesting of Entire X10 Setup
Post by: daveflyer on January 10, 2012, 03:15:32 PM
I've been using X10 for basic lighting control for over 30 years.  My new home seems to have enough wiring glitches to make the system somewhat unreliable, so I'm divesting of all of my X10 equipment.  I'm not sure if there's a good sales outlet for this type of specialized equipment.  And, since the general public isn't overly familiar with X10, I hesitate to simply donate it to Goodwill or a charity -- since it would likely sit on the shelves waiting for a specialized user.  Anyone have advice for me??

Me, too.
If you post a list here of what you want to get rid of, I'll make you an offer on anything I might want.

Where should I start?

> CM15A 2-way computer interface (USB)
> CM11A 2-way computer interface (Serial)
> 1 Firecracker Computer Interface Model CM17A
> SignaLinc Model 4816B2
> FilterLinc Model 1626-10
> ACT's AF120 Plug-In Filter
> Stanley Outdoor Floodlight Motion Detector Light Control (Model 370-2651) -- one new in box; two installed that can be removed
> TM751 Wireless Transceiver Module
> HR12A Wireless Remote
> SC503 Maxi (Wired) Controller
> Powerhouse 6-in-1 Universal Remote Control Model UR19A
> Screw-in Socket Rocket Model LM15A-C
> In-wall outlet Model X-10-SR227
> 2 Hawkeye Motion Detectors Model MS13A-C
> 5 plug-in lamp modules
> 2 plug-in appliance modules
> 3 Key Chain (Wireless) Remotes Model KR22A

I think that's all.  If somebody's interested, what's our best way to communicate?  I assume that our specifics should be discussed outside of this forum.

Thanks!!

30 years of using X10 and your going cold turkey? ???
Wow I know I couldn't do it.  rofl
I suspect you'll come back to it!
Maybe once you fix your wiring issues.
If so you'll wish you didn't get rid of some things.

Especially the CM15A, since they haven't been available for a few months now, and even though X10 says they will be getting more, nobody has any idea when.

I agree that it's a tough decision.  It has certainly done a great job for me over the years.  Oh well -- time marches on!

By the way, I've received an offer for some of the equipment and will be sending it off tomorrow.  I'll try to post an updated list over the weekend.  Anybody else needing anything??

I would be interested in the 5 plug-in lamp modules & the 2 plug-in appliance modules.  Are the lamp modules soft-start or old style?  You can contact me her or by e-mail at danlawrence2@comcast.net

Here's my updated list (as requested by several of you).  Since I'm divesting, I'm more interested in having this equipment see a good home rather than trying to make a lot of money selling it.  It's going pretty fast.  Let me know what you need.

Dear Forum Members:  I have several folks interested in my remaining equipment.  So, unless everybody changes their minds, let's consider this topic closed.  Thank you very much for your interest.  I trust that my beloved X10 setup will enjoy its new homes.  -- daveflyer
