Title: Can it really do it?

Hello everyone,

I currently have a nice 8 camera system with 2 boards for my CCTV system. Cameras are 30fps and are nice but I am looking for more control/home automation which my current system does not offer.
I am looking for:

1) Control of appliances including thermostate
2) Chim in when motion is outside detected
3) Video from  cameras are recorded when motion is detected.
4) Viewable from a remote location
5) It actually works like it supposed to

Will the X10 system take care of this? Also, what is the FPS per camera for this system?

Simple answer is Yes
Complicated answer is it depends on the modules used. You can only view one cam at a time but you can switch between them also if you have a pan and tilt it can act like 2 or more cams .You'll also need the Iwitness and Myhouse Online plugins and possibly the Smartmacro plugin
The FPS is a justable from 1-30 depending on the cams used mine stays at 12 max but I don't have the higher end cams! ;)
