Title: X10Pro PSC05 with X10 AM14A appliance module
Post by: KevinE on October 11, 2006, 11:36:36 PM
I am trying to use the PSC05 powerline interface with AM14A appliance controls. One is X-10 Pro, the other just X-10. Are these compatible?  The PSC05 says "For use with X10 Pro Modules".

Thanks in advance
Kevin

X-10 and X-10 Pro hardware are perfectly compatible.

Note however that the PSC05 interface cannot receive extended code signals, e.g., extended status codes transmitted by the AM14A.  (This has nothing to do with X-10 versus X-10 Pro, just the difference between standard and extended powerline codes.)

Yes. It is basically a X10 TW523 so anything it can do your PSC05 should be able to do. Remember it is a basic interface and you have to do all the timing and control through your equipment and the PSC05 just turns on and off the X10 signal to your signals on or off condition. On the receive side you have to use the Zero Crossing signal to start your receivers looking for a signal and again you have to decode it yourself. As Charles said. The receiver can not process the extended signals fully.
There is a TW523 protocol manual in the X10 Support Area under users manuals.
