Title: ActiveEye problem

I want to install my "activeeye" motion detector above my front walk to activate a chime when someone walks under the motion detector. Every thing appears to work fine until I fasten 'activeeye' to the metal underside of the roof overhang. Once the motion detector is secured in place it no longer activates the chime. Could the metal fascia be interfering with the signal?

Motion detector is less than 30 feet from chime and transceiver. Signal need only pass through 1 window or wall.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If that piece of metal is between a straight line from the ActiveEye to the Transceiver, it probably is the culprit.

Yes it is. Most find that they have to mount them on a piece of wood or plastic that keeps it 1 or more inches from the metal and as mentioned if the signal has to pass through the metal to get to the receiver that also can be a problem.

My motion detector would be mounted facing down. Would you know if the signal transfers from the front or back (or all around) of the motion detector?

It would be Omni-Directional (all directions).

You might try (if feasible) moving your Transceiver closer, or on a different angle to the motion sensor.
Look to create a straight path between the two that would minimize any metal obstructions.
