Title: Can't make very basic setup work - Please Help
Post by: scrapper on October 30, 2006, 10:17:19 PM: I have a KR19A KeyChain Remote, a TM751 Wireless Transceiver Module, and a SR227 wall receptacle. I installed the receptacle and plugged the transceiver into the always-on receptacle socket. With all settings at default (the top two on/off buttons on the remote set to A1 and the receptacle set to A1) the remote on/off buttons successfully control the receptacle on the bottom of the transceiver, but has no effect on the controlled outlet of the wall receptacle.

The transceiver is plugged into this same receptacle (the uncontrolled half) so phase disparity is not an issue. I have no other devices sending signals through the house wiring such as intercoms that are known to cause trouble. I tried two different SR227 units with the same result. The remote has a brand new battery. The transceiver's plug prongs are clean and non-corroded.

I am testing the function of the controlled half of the SR227 receptacle with a lamp. On both of the SR227's that I installed, if I unplug the lamp then plug it back it, there is an audible relay click and the controlled outlet sets to on. Further plugging/unplugging has no effect (i.e. does not reset it to off).

I tried setting the transceiver and remote to settings other than A1 with no benefit.

Is my transceiver shot or am I missing something obvious?

The TM751 will not transmit unit 1 over the powerline. ;)

Sure it will !!! (Unless your TM751 is on the fritz.)
I suspect you had in mind that the TM751 does not _receive_ powerline commands, on Unit 1 or any other unit.

If that's the case, he could have a noise source on the same circuit.
He might want to do a search on noise and signal suckers for some suggests to try.

Unless using the TM751 from the SR227 is causing the signal to be missed some how ::) I don't have a SR227 to try this!

scrapper:Try the TM751 from a different outlet but on the same phase.
if it still doesn't work it could be noise as Puck stated or a faulty TM751
A friend had a TM751 that was like this And I tested it here with the same results ended up the TM751 was faulty! ::) ;) :D

Like I said to you in my PM, if you've got the FLUE (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/flue), you should also have a high temperature (which would burn off the fog :P ). ;)

Any other PLC transmitters?

CM11A or CM15A? ELK ESM1?

Lamp or appliance module?

Which validates the remote and the RF section of the TM751 - it sounds like the PLC Transmitter of your TM751 is dead, but to be conclusive, you either need more equipment to run more tests or to replace it (with a RR501 if you plan on having more than one).

How old was the BAD TM751? "New out of the box" - why not warranty return? ???
