Title: 2 Questions: Problem w/ LM15A & Creating a Macro w/MS1x
Post by: CobraCats on November 04, 2006, 12:12:12 AM
I have a LM15A, when I try to turn it off, either by the computer interface or with the palm control, the off command only dims the light.   help??

Second:  I would like to set a macro where when the motion sees movment it turns the lamp on at about 40%, just enough to see then in 3 minutes turn the lamp off, my thought is for when we are watching movies.  I have been trying but I cant get it to react right, either the lamp doesnt dim it just comes on full or when I tried to just turn on the lamp at 35% everytime the motion sees movement it adds another 35%. Help??

I don't use any LM15A's, but the only thing I can think of is you are triggering a MACRO with the OFF command to cause it to dim.

For your second question, I suggest using a Flag to prevent re-triggering your macro. Plus, make sure your light in the macro is set to "Set Absolute".

If you need more details, just say so.  ;) :)

Hmm...  The LM15A is the X10 Socket Rocket, which is not dimmable.

Do you perhaps mean the LM14A 2-way Lamp Module?   If so (and if you've selected it properly in AHP), then it sounds like you may have a defective module.

The module is definalty the socket rocket, which is just dimming with the off command...

How do I use flags?

If you unscrew / unplug /disconnect the LM15A from the wall, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in, does it:

How do I use flags?

There is a lot of info in this topic available on the board for more detail, but here is a sample macro that can be triggered by your motion sensor:

Do I need to buy more software to use flags?   I cant find the option anywhere in my version.

To TTA: grasshopper still learning to snatch pebble  ;)  :D

To CobraCats:  It sounds like flags may be part of SmartMacros. Now sure since I've always had both from the start.

The Socket Rocket is not designed with the capability to be dimmed.  If after following TakeTheActive's suggestion it does not revert to strictly On/Off functionality, then there's a definite problem with the unit.

To get the capability you say you want, i.e., coming on dimmed without first going to full brightness, you'll need to get an X10 LM14A 2-way Lamp Module (preferred) or one of the 'Linc units from Smarthome which has the "resume"  or "preset On" feature.

It seems to be working now, but will keep an eye on it.

Also I have now ordered the smart macro program, I will need to get more light switch modules because we have very few lamps in the house
