Title: RF, PLC or BOTH
Post by: Puck on November 11, 2006, 03:48:34 PM
You gave us the ability to prevent RF signals from being Transceived to PLC signals, now give us the option of how WE CHOOSE to have our MACROS triggered.

I wasn't sure if you were OLD ENUF to recognize the tune (are you?), but I *WAS* sure that the other "Old Geezers " would get a chuckle out of it. :)

It came out a handful of years before my time  ;) But I know the song quite well.

Excellent song.  Brings back memories.

As to this thought.  There ARE conditions for macro triggering in the CM15 that are not really documented.

If you think the effort would be worth it and used by someone, I could map ALL of them and see if one eliminates
RF input.  The only problem with this would be, you would have to create the macro setup, download it, edit the
binary file manually and then manually download the changes.  SEtting this up would not be too bad, but the binary
editing might cause headaches for the uninitiated.

Think I should?  Or is it better to get X-10 to add the programming to AHP?  (Once modifying binary code, I'm sure
all bets are off with any other quick changes.  Add a module, re-edit and fix.  Alter anything, re-fix, etc.)

Just a thought.

Hey ArtClark if you can think of a simple way of doing this that would be awesome.
I know the way I change things daily (for myself and to test things other members have problems with) a way to implement this would have to be quite simplified.

Would be nice if X-10 had those options as a check box or even a radio button right in the Macro.

If downloaded macro triggering RF versus PLC can be controlled by software there's a good chance X-10 could be persuaded to add that control to ActiveHome Pro.  (If firmware changes are necessary, the chances are nil.)

ArtClark:
If you can demonstrate software control by patching the EEPROM code it will be an immense help in making the case to X-10.  (They may even be unaware it can be done.)

There's a section near the beginning of the EEPROM code telling the CM15A to receive various types of RF transmissions.  I suppose receiving all RF could be disabled, but I don't believe that would be a satisfactory solution - the user might want to disable RF triggering for macros but still transceive RF for some housecodes.
