Title: How can I have the x10 call my phone through my cable internet?
Post by: beavismorpheus on February 11, 2007, 09:34:13 PM
I don't have a land line so I'm trying to figure out a way to have it call my cell through my cable internet.  I'm a younger guy with not much of a credit history so the phone company wanted a $200 deposit.  I told them Id get back to them after doing some research.  Now I turn to you for leads as my imagination is failing me.

Is there some kind of PCI card that has a telephone output that i can run from the computer to the x10?   ???

If you have the "advanced functions" on the dropdown page for macro construction you could have X-10 send you a text message on your cell as part of a macro.  I can't remember if sending an E-Mail is part of the smart macro plug-in or not but it works quite well on my set up.

You could also use something like Vonage (or the number of other services that are exactly like it).
