I don't currently own any X10 products. I would like to be able to control two switches in the house using Homelink from my car. One is a single switch that works the outside lights, and the other is for the inside entrance lights which can be worked by one of two switches. What X10 products do I need to purchase in order to do this?
Thanks!

You need the basic X10 setup starting with a CM15A.
A remote control X10 keychain device may work but the radio range is not that far. You would have to be pretty close to the house.
You need modules that turn on lights.
Wall switches, or plug in appliance modules will all work.
Without setting up a macro, you can just set all the modules to the same code as the radio keychain device.

Hi Newbie!
- 1.) How much money do you plan to spend?
- 2.) Do you plan to continue adding more X10 products after this?
- 3.) How much spare time do you have to devote to this "New Hobby"?
- 4.) Rented Apartment or Owned House?
- 5.) How 'handy' are you with Home Maintenance & Repair?
- 6.) How confident and knowledgeable are you working with 120VAC?
- 7.) How many HOURS have you INVESTED, so far, reading the Archives here?
Spend some time reading: TTA's X10 Troubleshooting Tips Thread [Updated: 2007/03/05] (Read 5055 times) (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=9899.msg57582#msg57582), especially: PLC / RF Transmitters, Receivers and Transceivers (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=9899.msg57801#msg57801). IMHO, starting out with the AHP/CM15A would be too much, too soon - BABY STEPS!! :)

What you need, first, is one of the special Homelink transceivers., or what they call their Homelink Vehicle Interface. These are at HomeLink: Vehicle-to-Home Remote Control (https://secure.homelink.com/secure/shop.taf).
Once you get one of those, just about everything else is X10, including the X10 Wall Switches you will need to use to replace your existing wall switches.
