I am thinking of getting a 572AB, but do have a question or two.
Since it addresses all of the house codes, what are the chances of a collision ?
Does it have a sensing circuit to avoid collisions ?
Must it be programmed to address only certain house codes in order to avoid collisions ?
What about the DS7000 ? Any conflicts there ?

The V572A/AB interfaces through an X10 TW523 or a X10Pro PSC05 to the powerline. Also works with a 1132B from Smarthome but may need a different RJ phone type cable from the v572A to the 1132B. Smarthome had a custom version that also got its power from the 1132B and didn't need the wall wart normally supplied with the unit.
I will have to check my notes but I don't think it checks for line traffic before sending a X10 signal. There is a setup program that runs through a serial port of a computer where you can set  blocks of addresses as ignored. House code and units 1-8 or 9-16.

Duck69 The V572A comes less the PSC05 and the V572AB comes with it. The unit won't handle any of the security signals so theres no help with RF from that end. My V572AB solved all my RF problems and even worked very well with the RF stick-up switches.

I turned off all the transcieved codes in the CM15A except the ones the security sensors use and have had no problems with the 2 colliding. The antenna is a quarter wave and in my application I found it worked best mounted horizontal rather then vertical. Brian's right about it being able to be programed with a serial port connection. When you run the software program you can check or uncheck each house code you want the unit to respond to. My unit came with all house codes enabled by default and I left it that way. Hope this helps.

So, let's see.
Use the 572AB solely for RF
The CM15A for software control.
No need to worry about collisions with the DS7000, just set it to an un-used house code.
Is this is correct  ???
If so,  give each other a helpful click for me.
If not. What did I miss ?

The 572A setup can be done with the supplied RS232 cable and a USB-serial cable, using a USB port.  My 572A has a PSC05 attached and will require a pair of AC inputs (one wall outlet).  Once the programing is done (it comes with all house  & unit codes enabled, so if you want to change any thing, do it), the whole system can be moved to wherever you want it.   It's a great addition for RF rqnge !

I have mine set up pretty much the same as KDR.  CM15A set to not transceive any codes and the 572AB set to transceive all house codes. I have the antenna mounted upside down from the floor joists in an unfinished part of the basement. I have not experienced any problems with collisions. I am getting range in excess of 125 feet with a keychain remote. It, in my opinion, this is the best thing I added to my X10 setup and it is a lot easier than trying to modify the transmiters ( motion sensors, keychain remotes, stick a switch....) to increase their output.   ;) :D

Best investment I've made. Been using a V572AB for two years for all codes and just recently added the DS7000 alarm with no conflicts. Heartily endorse.

Just for giggles, Jim, What is a 572AB?  A Google search is useless and a X10 site search for 572AB shows every post you made. Is it X10 or Smarthome?

Concerning the 572 from wgldesigns, I've read posts from some of our more illustrious members.
Brian H, Charles Sullivan, Tuicemen, TakeTheActive and KDR.

The description:
A 572AB is a  RF transceiver that receives all 16 house codes. It comes with an external antenna that provides greater reception, giving you greater range with your transmitters.
Because the V572 receives all 16 house codes, you can replace up to 16 transceivers such as the RR501  or TM751 with one of them. It also comes with a PSC05 power line interface module, which sends the X10 signal to receiving modules, such as, light switch modules, lamp modules, appliance modules, etc.
It can operate without a computer and be placed anywhere there is an electrical outlet. However if you wish more custom control, you'll need a PC to run the software after which you can move it to where ever you wish.

I hope this explains it sufficiently.

Now I know what it is and where to get it.

However, I suspect I'll never need it.  I have two RR501's in my system one on housecode A and one on housecode F.  F is my kitchen/breakfast room, both the A & F codes have a Stick-a-Switch to give local control to lamp/appliance modules. My house is small enough that two 501s on the same housecode would step on each other.

Some of us have range problems for one reason or other.  :(
That's where the 572AB comes in.  ;D
Being who I am; I've resisted the straightforward and proven path for a year now.  :-[
I've modified a CM15A (actually 2. Ruined the first one.) built a couple of antennas etc.  :-[
Now that I've wasted some money that could have been better spent and satisfied myself, that I should have gotten the 572AB in the first place, I've ordered one.
As the saying goes "Live & Learn".
Next ? Who knows. But of one thing I'm sure of. It's gonna be FUN !

Even though I have a modified CM15 with a WGL designs antenna the V572AB's range is much greater. As the grandkids would say "more better".  ;D
I have it sitting on the top shelf of a closet. And believe it or not the KR22A's range is unbelievable (60+ feet). I can only suppose that there isn't much if any RF interference around here. I also at that time installed a wireless router with dual antennas. I have no idea if that can be contributing to the fanstatic range or not. Maybe one of our members knowledgeable in RF could answer this. Or are others getting fantastic ranges like this ? Is this just a fluke ? I hope someone will chime in with an answer or theory.

Yes the WGL 572AB has a great range. In my attic I had one installed and all the way to the road [I live on a long driveway] a Palmpad and Universal remote could trigger stuff.
Most Wireless Networks are on 2.4 Ghz and should not do anything to the 310 Mhz. X10 RF signals.

I have had a V572A for about a year now and it is awesome :D
I have 75 feet all around the yard! Well worth the money. 8)

Now if they had one for XCams...........................! :P
