118 Guests, 4 Users (1 Hidden) (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?action=who)
I've *NEVER* seen the GUEST count this high before - CLICKing on the LINK above (at the time of this post) results in FOUR PAGES of "Who's Online"!
:o
What's the big attraction?
???

...I've *NEVER* seen the GUEST count this high before...
Maybe they're trying to find how to get the cameras they bought to work under Vista.
(I still haven't noticed any disclaimers in the X10 ads regarding challenges using cameras with Vista.)

152 Guests, 5 Users (2 Hidden) (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?action=who)
Is anyone else seeing these UNUSUALLY high numbers?
:-\

I usually don't check the stats. Will give a look when logged on.
I sometimes see many Guests over at Coccoontech also.
-
I have noticed over the last couple of weeks 40 to 60 guest being on. I would expect to see these kind of numbers around Christmas holidays.
I wonder if Fathers Day had any thing to do with it. I wonder if X10 seen a jump in sales for the same time frame?
The only other thing that has changed is schools out. Maybe a whole new generation is getting into Automation ;D

Don't believe the doom and gloom! This economy is booming!
Although there is a whole lot of consuming going on.... and much of it for luxury items. People are still value orientated.
Home automation can be a luxury for most people.... and X10 is a great value!

Agree. It's usually ~5-20 all day long, with peaks into the 30s during weekday lunchtime. But, over 100?!? :o Never saw this before... ???
Can't be that many new X10 Enthusiasts - must be some kind of new 'bot'... :P
-
Thanks for pointing that out. It mostly is Yahoo spiderbots crawling the site...what I hate, though, is when I see bots in Post or Edit pages. They can't do anything, because they're guests, but they're also worthless to crawl, so why don't they make exceptions for those links?
It appears to have started there around the beginning of June 2007.

That would explain why there are like 10 or 12 guests all reading the same thread at the same time and another 8 or 9 in another thread.

If it's Yahoo spiderbots crawling the site, I wonder why. Yahoo! is so big that using bots seems anti-productive as it just reinforces the idea that big corporations are behind every bad thing. :(

Just for my curiosity, how do we know its "Yahoo spiderbots"?

................... the idea that big corporations are behind every bad thing. :(
Is that true? I'd never heard that. I have always heard that corporations are behind all things good.... you know like cures for cancer, computers, the Internet.

It's a two way street, with the bad outweighing the good. The biggest problem is when corporations get so big that their efforts bring out the bad.

IIRC, isn't this (early June 2007) also about the same time that Yahoo! started hyping the elimination of the E-Mail storage limit (to temporarily trump GMail ::) )? ???
