Title: text message if water is detected by sensor..how?
Post by: borg on September 30, 2007, 04:02:34 PM
Hello,
I have an aquarium and want to be notified by a text message sent to my cell phone if water is detected on the floor. I found these 2 sensors on another site  Water/Moisture Sensor Closes Contacts to Trigger X10 Powerflash Module & WaterBug Water Sensor - WB-200 on - both seem to work using X10 but i don't have a clue to how to make this work. Seems to me "something" would have to notify my PC when the sensor detects water - then a program would have to sent the text via email?
Can anyone tell me what equipment/program I would need to do this? Yes, I'm technology challenged.

Thank in advance

In order to have email / test message capabilities, you will need ActiveHome Pro with the MyHouse plug-in. The cheapest package usually contains all the software plug-ins (incluing MyHouse).

I purchased one of those sensors but have not hooked it up yet. Be carefull they are polarity sensitive.
