Title: X-10 Remotes
Post by: riw on November 11, 2007, 09:25:14 AM
Is there any plan to do something about the ability of an x-10 remote to support multiple house codes? It looks like the rest of the system, including CM15A, and Activehome, already support more than one house code, but the remotes have that tiny little wheel to change the house code--I'm not in the habit of carrying around a little screwdriver to change things on my remote controls.... Maybe I should get a little bungee cord to attach the little screwdriver, to make it look really cheap?

Any ideas on how we can get a remote that supports multiple house codes? Or should I just resort to multiple remotes, one for each house code (hey, why not carry around three or four remotes?).

Thoughts?

Russ

Code Clickers (http://www.smarthome.com/4824r.html) (< a Link).

Your link is not what he wants. Code Clickers are for lamp and appliance modules which have code wheels that need a screwdriver or a paper clip to set.

Yes only remote that the code clicker should work with is the HR12A PalmPad. OH guess the HR13A Camera one also. ;D

Yeah... and I've even read here at the forum that someone cut up a CD case and used it's plastic to make a thumb-wheel on a PalmPad.

Code Clickers don't work very well with the HR12A or CR14A.   The code wheel on these remotes is recessed deep enough that you can't get a good grip on the protruding part of the Code Clicker.

Good point I missed. OK code clickers and palm pads are still a problem. ???
