Title: PS561 forgets settings
Post by: spencex on March 04, 2008, 09:29:12 PM
After setting up my x10 system with the PS561 controller in a remote cabin and arming it, I left for a few weeks. When I returned, there was no response to "disarm" or to "arm." So I set up the two window alarms and two motion sensors again. When I go back to the cabin in a couple of weeks, I'm wondering if the system will need reviving again.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I've had a couple of breakins and I need reliability.

What is the state of the back-up battery when this occurs?

To me, the term "remote cabin" indicates no AC power; is your PS561 operating on DC only?

The PS561 is being powered by a pure sine wave inverter connected to a 12v battery bank which is charged by a solar system. And yes, the 9v backup battery was fresh and in the controller.

If the back-up 9V battery was still strong then it should not have lost its set-up.

You stated there was no response to arm & disarm and that you re-installed the door/window & motion sensors... did you check the sensors first to make sure they were no longer registered? I'm wondering if it was just the security remote or all modules no longer responding.

I only checked one sensor and yes, it was no longer registered. I don't know about the others.

If one was no longer registered along with the remote, then most like all modules were lost.

I don't know what would have caused this besides a complete loss of power; maybe Tuicemen experienced something like this with his similar set-up. If he did, I'm sure he will reply.
