Title: Wrong devices going on and off

I have several house codes but as an example:


using remote send on/off to H-2 and E-5 goes On/Off or G14 goes On/Off

This happens a lot from different  remotes sending to H, and affects different Device Codes and House Codes.

It just started happening recently.

Any thoughts? ???

Since you are using more than one house code. What transceiver are you using or do you have more than one on different codes?

Not sure how you can run different House codes without multiple transceivers ???

But I have 3: 1 RR501 (G) and 2 TM751 (H,I)

The CM15A, WGL's V572, and Dave Houston's BX24-AHT can accept all housecodes.

My first guess would be that you have added something recently that is radiating noise onto your powerline.  It is possible for a noise source to morph one command into another.  You may want to read about a particularly nasty device I tested here:

The CM15A will tranceive all 16 house codes. I think that is what Brian is refering to.

However if you have single HC tranceivers and you send the "H" house code  TM 751 tranceiver a command and you get a completly different PLC code out of the TM 751 trnceiver ("using remote send on/off to H-2 and E-5 goes On/Off ") then I think you have a bad TM751.

Have you tried making one of the other tranceivers the H tranceiver and see if you still have the problem?

I am old school I have a CM11A >*<, and I think I understand it will receive PLC's to all house codes but my problem is RF right ???

The H transiever is a TM751 and I set it to (I) last night to test it and sent several on/off's and so far so good.

We did have a power outage recently so maybe that affected it. Other than that I have not added any major or minor appliances lately.

Try rotating the House Code and Unit Code wheels and then reset them to what you want. Sometimes the switches can get dirty and the codes change all by themselves.
Yes my asking about more than one House Code. As pointed out there are devices that do all 16 by default or multiple single unit are used.
Also the TM751 is not polite and will step on other powerline transmissions. So if two where to send at the sametime. Garbage could be made.

Thanks again guy's. I think I'm gonna cut my losses and keep it on (I) for now >!. She's happy and that means I'm happy if you know what I mean (no more pressing harder on the remote to get it to work better) rofl.

JeffVolp: I looked at the article and man, that's one nasty device! I don't understand half of what you wrote but the Pics tell the whole story! #:) That suckers noisy as a cat in heat!

Brian H  are you saying that the other devices (The CM15A, WGL's V572, and Dave Houston's BX24-AHT) receive RF signals to any house code and send it as a PLC to that device? No matter what the house codes is set to? So if I had a CM15A or the other ones, it acts like a transceiver and receives RF ??? Or is it just an upgraded more powerful software wise, CM11A and only works with PLC's?

Try rotating the House Code and Unit Code wheels and then reset them to what you want. Sometimes the switches can get dirty and the codes change all by themselves.

That was my first thought as I have seen that here on a lamp module.  However, examining the codes:

H2:    1101  11100  (transmitted)
E5:    0001  00010  (received)
G14:  0101  10000  (received)

The switch contacts pull the input low.  So, a dirty switch can cause a bit to become a "1" when it should be a zero.  The errors seen here cannot be explained by a dirty switch.  For example, G could become H, or E could become H, but H could not become either E or G due to a dirty switch.

The fact that the unit code was also being effected rules out a bad switch.  And, because a dirty switch on the transceiver would cause it to also listen to a different housecode in the RF link, the H remote would be ignored.

I also considered the possibility of a collision if a TM751 shared the same housecode as another transceiver.  A collision could occur if the RF signal was marginal, and was picked up by the TM751 slightly later than the first transceiver.  It would then begin its transmission while the other one was already in process.  However, a collision almost always results in the command being ignored by all modules.  I suppose it is possible to come up with a bit alignment that might morph one command into another, but I haven't sat down with some graph paper to check that possibility.

In my testing I have certainly seen noise sources morph comands from one to another.  It is pretty easy to overlook a simple charger for a new cellphone or MP3 player.  As you can see in that report, that little Cellet charger is one nasty device.

Of course, it could be a transceiver that is starting to act up, and will eventually have to be replaced.

I'll keep an eye on it but for now it's working fine as (I). :)%
