I am trying to use a Universal Contol Module (UCM) as a switch that is connected to a recorder and plays a message when the contact closes. My problem is that the relay closes for 1.5-2 seconds and this is too long for my recorder. I really only need .5 seconds max closer time.
Does anyone know if it is possible to modify the circuit to shorten the relay on time in side the UCM?
What about a circuit that is external to the UCM, that is turned on by the relay but only sends a short pulse to my recorder?

I play messages with my setup directly from my computer. They can be triggered by a motion sensor, a macro (the system does require AHP and the CM15A interface), a timer and/or other or combinations of events.
I use BVC (http://www.davesdomainonline.com/bvc/bvc.htm) which also allows me to Voice Command my Home Automation. You could also use a couple other third party softwares to play a wav or mp3 file.

I have seen a modification to lengthen or shorten the momentary on time. Changing C12 to a smaller value will shorten it.
There was a site with photos. I will try and find it; but I believe it maybe one of the now closed sites.
This site has the information but no photos.

Thanks for the syggestions. AHP looks interesting and i have seen it work but I'm trying to go the cheapo route.
The modification site says this :
"Changing the length of the momentary mode time
Locate C12 on the PCB with the IC chip on it.
change C12 to a 33 uF cap for about 12 seconds delay or change it to a 100 uF cap for about 60 seconds momentary delay."
I wonder if that is the time delay BEFORE it turns on or the time the relay is actually latched?

I believe it is the time it stays on in the momentary mode. Though I have never tried it.
