Title: Re-Programming a SocketRocket
Post by: billmason on December 26, 2008, 02:14:57 PM
Hello All,
The bulb in my SocketRocket burned out - after ?~5 years - and when I replaced it, the new one went on when screwed in. I tried to shut it off with no luck. I figured it needed reprogramming and have tried all the standard advice. Problem seems to be that it is always on, and the instructions is to send the desired code 3 (or more) times within 30 seconds after it is connected. "It is programmed when the light comes on." But, it's never off. I tried "all off" on every house code with no luck. Might I have a dead SocketRocket, or does anyone know how to reset it from the "on" condition?
Appreciate all replies. - Bill

It's very possible that when the bulb burned out, the triac in the Socket Rocket also burned out.   Best advice is to junk it and get a couple of Socket Rockets.  I recommend Automatic Outlet:  http://www.automatedoutlet.com/home.php  Their prices are less than X10's site, plus their shipping is a flat rate regardless of the size of the order.  Check them out.

If it turns on as soon as the power is switched on. As Dan said it is blown out and no programming in the world will fix it.
I blew at least two when bulbs blew out.

Thanks very much, Dan & Brian -
I didn't want to junk it if there was a chance of making it work, but am happy to spend a little money - now - rather than continuing to waste my time!
Appreciate your replies and link to site with good pricing.
