Title: iwatch / AH Pro and adding cameras
Post by: bkjr on March 01, 2009, 07:25:03 PM
I have AH Pro with Iwatch.

I've never used the x10 cameras before.

I wanted to add wired cameras due to the density of housing around me, don't want the wireless signals bouncing around.

It seems to me all the connectivity options for multiple cameras are wireless.
Am I wrong? missing something?

I see the one module that is wired (USB Video Capture Adapter) , but comes with a USB PC Transceiver and the Xray software
http://www.x10.com/cameras/va11a_s_mcpx_ps34.html .
Seems if I throw out both the wireless receiver and the xray software, I could get 1 camera working?
But don't see how to get 3 or 4, unless I need 1 each of that USB Video Capture Adapter for each hardwired cameres to do so?

I appreciate the input and help.

tnx

i'm pretty sure that ahp and iwatch will only work with one va11 or (va12 upgrade).  If you want wired cameras what you'll have to do is get you some rca splitters and plug that into the va11 or va12.  Then if the wired cameras you buy don't have addressable power supplies, you will have to plug them into appliance modules.

 ;)

hope this helps.

Hawk1.

Thanks for the reply.

Ah,  -:) ,  so it's not that I can see all of them at the same time, on split screens, it's which ever one is on, is the one I'll see !?
(if using one of the usb x10 video adapters).

Thanks.
Does the wireless allow for viewing some number of them at the same time on split screens?
Of again, one channel, which ever is one , is what you see?

if you use AHP and Iwatch then only one at a time this includes the wireless.  Since there is only one feed going into AHP that is all you can use.

I believe though you could buy a multiplexer, plug your cameras into that and then plug the multiplexer into the va11 or va12.  But don't quote me on that one!  If you do a search on the forum, i believe someone here has done that.
