Title: ws467 disable memory?
Post by: fischb22 on March 26, 2009, 02:49:39 PM
is their a way, to have the push button on the ws467 turn the light to 100% when pushed to turn it on?  it seems to go to the last dim setting.

i dont mind opening up the switch and making a modification. but out of the box, this switch is useless to me.

i either need some kind of 2-way wall switch, and/or the ability to go to 100% birghtness with out playing around with the switch button

No.

This feature is called "Resume Dim" and functionally is built in the controller chip, in the switch. It can not be modified or disabled. "SoftStart" is also built in the chip and is the slow ramping up or down when turned ON or OFF.

However these features were "an upgrade" to the switch in (I believe) early 2008. Pre 2008 switches were instant ON and OFF, did not have "Resume Dim", nor local dimming ability, at the switch. You might find someone on the forum that would be willing to trade you an  older switch or two. I will check in my "stash" if you are interested.

Also check Smarthome.com. I believe the ICON switch does have a slightly faster version of "SoftStart" without the "Resume Dim" feature. PCS used to make X10 switches which had similar features, but they could disabled through programming. Google PCS(?).

Yes, the SoftStart should really extend bulb life. Look at the Smarthome site. They do have wall switches that do not have the "Adjustable ON Levels" ( Smarthomes term for  X10's "Resume Dim").
