Whenever I try to connect to this address myhouse.x10.com for remote access I get a black screen. Nothing happens. My House STatus shows I'm connected. How does this work?
Anybody out there?
Is this the right address --myhouse.x10.com--to use for connecting remotely? I'm still getting a black screen.
myhouse.x10.com has boatloads of problems. The solution sees to Logmein.com. That has been posted here before, search for it.

I've used Logmein and it's great, however, since I bought AHP with the MyHouse plugin over a year ago, I thought I might've been able to connect to it at least ONCE in that time!
When you go to that address myhouse.x10.com what SHOULD happen? In over a year all I ever get is a black screen. I'm wondering if it's my security software blocking access, but I've turned off my security and still I can't get connected.
It's X10USA itself. Like the "soft start" modules with the same part numbers and buggy versions of AHP that make users go though hoops to get back to a stable version. As to MyHouse Online, I wouldn't use it if X10 gave it to me.

You
couldn't use it, Dan Lawrence, it doesn't work! Is that
fraud or would it be
false advertising?
Even if did work, first time, every time, I still wouldn't use it, even if X10 gave it to me. I don't need or want it.

My house uses IE and I believe java first time you go there you should be asked to download the java script. If you have IE make sure you don't have a pop up blocker running. ;)

Tuicemen, I have internet explorer 5, 5.5 & 6 installed on linux. Could this work?
Removed message from quote.
IE 6 should work but running under linux I'm not sure, it depends if it will install the needed file.
It sounds like you need to authorize the ActiveX install. Do you see a bar at the top of your browser screen giving you that option? If not, go into preferences and turn on ActiveX.
It'd be great if it was scripting with Java but unfortunately it's ActiveX. ActiveX is exclusive to Windows/Explorer.
Most have left ActiveX and gone to Java scripts. Everything from cellphones to handheld web browsers support java.
Why is myhouse.x10.com still on version 3.206 (September 2006 version)?
Because X10 has suffered a serious depletion of programmers in the last few years. AHP has not a good update on over a year either.

Looks like they are ramping up on their website-related jobs though: http://www.x10jobs.com/index.html

I read the descriptions of the job openings. I wonder if they supply free Red Bull during work hours and Compose at the end of shift? I think there was a recent movie about X10. It was called "Fast and Furious". rofl
