Title: Motion Sensor For Nikon Camera ?

I have a Nikon D200 camera and would like to find a motion sensor for the camera.  Any ideas?

The camera has various third party wired remotes for it that basically just close the connection to make a picture. Perhaps one of these could be take apart and combined with another  device that would close the connection between the two wires?

Oky-Doky.

The UM506 x10 universal module responds to power line x10 commands and has a pair of screw terminal contacts that will "make" in response to a "on" command sent to it.

Connect the um506 to the wires connections the camera needs to close, the the um506 to close momentarily and set any x10 motion detector to the um506's house and unit codes.

If I understand what you need correctly, that should do it.

Thanks any motion sensor you would suggest?

I was almost thinking about a motion sensor from radioshack or something.

Any x10 Motion detector will work. Be aware that you will need an x10 motion detector.
MS-12a for indoor use, MS-16 for outdoor use.

**** I forgot something. You would need a x10 transceiver such as a TM751 or RR501.
These devices take the RF X10 signal that the motion detector emits and turns it into a powerline command that the UM506 listens for.

If you already have active home pro then you have a tranceiver in the CM15a that comes with every copy of AH Pro along with the CM15a poor RF range, that can be improved.

The plan would look like so:

MS12a (SET to HOUSE CODE / UNIT CODE A1) ~~~~~~>TM751 (HOUSE CODE A) -------> UM506 (A1)

~~~~~~~ = RF X10 Signal
----------  = POWER LINE X10 SIGNAL

I do not have active home.

This would be for outdoor use.   If anything could be 100% battery powered that would be good.

That kind of disqualifies X10. I have seen motion triggers for cameras at some of the big sporting stores (Gander Mountain, Cabellas, etc).

Maybe you don't need X10 for this. Maybe you could just hack a battery powered LED light (available everywhere) to trigger the Nikon.
